I don’t know what’s happened to my photo uploader thing, damn thing’s got me flummoxed! Anyway here are the promised photos and a brief explaination;
1. I have decided to build a herb spiral as the rememberance area of my wee one. Here you can see the grey soil usually found all over Perth and the stump of the wattle which I’ve been hacking back. The Bougainvillea is in the background. This pic shows it at a third of it’s original lethal size. Tomorrow I am going to start marking out the area and sourcing the bricks I need to build. The plan is to have it in place by the 22 November when I will plant it up and some of my friends from Joyous Birth, Essential Baby and IRL friends have also said that they will plant a herb in their own gardens to remember Xavier.
2. A pic of my Earth Rings! Two large ones, (3mx1.5m) and two small ones (1mx60cm)

The herb spiral sounds like a great project to get stuck into - can’t wait to see the journey.
Earth Rings, so that’s what they’re called. I saw some small ones for sale the other day as I drove past - how much are they roughly? Do they have bottoms or not?
aaah, now I now what they’re called Google filled me in on those questions. But I do have another one - they look like they take a lot of soil to fill. Do you use all soil or fill it up like a no-dig garden mixture?
Pecc, if you go to ‘what it costs to green wits end’ you will find the link to rainfill tanks. The large beds cost me about $280 ish, and the small $87. I got 2.3m3 soil from the company I posted about last month ‘who wants to get dirty with me’.
Love the idea of the spiral garden for Xavier L! THose earth rings look fabulous, can’t wait to get mine going!
I agree those Earth Rings look awesome. Can’t wait to see them all planted out and chugging with summer produce.
That sounds like a lovely remembrance project. I hope it helps to ease what must be an emotional time for all of you.

An ex-sandgroper here, enjoying the look of your garden, mine didn’t look like that when I lived there!
I wanted to ask what trees they are in the pots, and are you espailering them along the trellis? Are you planning to leave them in the pots?
I’ve been thinking about getting some of those Earth Spirals..what a great name. I saw some on Better Homes and Gardens that had a small water tank under the bed, so you didn’t use so much soil, and could attach a hose or drip irrigator to water each bed.
Your herb spiral sounds like a wonderful remembrance and healing project, may it be blessed.
What a wonderful thing to do… IF I was staying in Australia, I would plant something… Perhaps a flowering plant (Marigold) to attract bee’s…
